Breadcrumbs
What I am about to share with you here is by far the most valuable information I have learned in the 10 years I have been earning online. This is NOT just Guru talk, it applies to common people like you and I, with no special skills or gifts required and it all works free, over and over again.
I get people contacting me all the time after they tried advertising their links or referral pages in every traffic exchange, safelist, classified ad board, (fill in the blank) that they can find or even paying to be included in ezines, newsletters or paid to click websites, but can’t understand why they don’t get many referrals?
The simple answer is, they are failing to differentiate between traffic and people. In order to successfully get referrals, you need to have them see your story and be compelled to read how you can solve a problem they have, just like you are doing right now. If they fully comprehend your simple solution and how it applies to them, you won’t be able to beat them off with a stick. They will not only enroll, they will follow you around for months asking for more. You won’t need any opt-in list or capture pages at all.
Sure it’s true that if you get enough traffic, someone might make the necessary deductions for themselves, but most of the time they will just click on to the next page. You need to get their full ATTENTION first. That’s why you hear so much about Web 2.0 or the Interactive Internet Model. You need to find PEOPLE, not just traffic.
Let me demonstrate with an example. I have a Web 2.0 community I participate in that is populated with people who want to earn extra money, but have mostly failed in their attempts so far. Would you think it’s safe to assume they need information to help them overcome this problem?
So first I set up my profile complete with photos and a few links to outside blogs I use with even more information. The only reason I use outside blogs like this one is to gain more control and a more professional appearance, but you can stick with free ones if you are on a tight budget. Just keep in mind, everyone that visits knows you are probably not making any money either or you would not need to use only free ones.
Then I use the free blog in the community to explain a method to attract more referrals, which helps solve their problem, right? Each blog entry gets linked in my profile under the Blog tab, so all that’s left is to post in the Forum with intelligent comments that attract people to visit my profile to learn more about me and how I can help them.
The more active you are in the forum, the more people will be attracted to your profile and the more referrals you will gain for your other programs. It’s really that simple. The only trap you might fall into emerges when you try too hard. Just be a real person yourself and get involved so other real people will recognize you are just like them, except they can sense you have the answer they need.
This is only one example, but there are many ways to attract the people you should be looking for. Don’t get too involved with all the whining about how the program didn’t pay like they expected it to, just be aware that these people are WAVING THEIR HANDS IN THE AIR BEGGING FOR HELP!!! If they were making as much money as I am, I guarantee they would NOT be whining about a few seemingly unkept promises. Get a free PeopleString account and visit my profile to poke around for yourself. You will find something that fits what I explained here under each tab and all you do next is do the same things yourself.
An analogy I like a lot is the Breadcrumb Theory. If you had to capture some birds (remember, it’s just an analogy) would you run through a field wildly waving a blanket through the air trying to knock down a few, or throw some breadcrumbs in a corner and wait for them to find them? Attraction Marketing online is the same principal, so go spread a few more breadcrumbs every day! Before long, people will make comments like, “Dang, I see you everywhere”. It’s not that they didn’t see everyone else, it’s that they REMEMBERED YOU!
See you all online!
